I have a feeling this is going to turn into ‘one of those summers’. You know the kind, where one thing after the other happens and messes up all your plans.
First Grandma’s friend Betty died and all the work and energy to get all her final arrangements made and straightened out.
Then Daddy had his appendix surgery and all its recovery. Which is actually going well. We saw the surgeon on Monday and he said just ‘slap a bandage on it, it’s fine’ . We went to the wound clinic on Tuesday to get a bit more instruction and the nurse says (after actually pulling the dressing off and looking at Colin’s wound, imagine) ‘you can’t just put a bandage on this, it’s still too open’. So we’re still changing and packing the wound every other day. But I’m going to do it for most of the week and only see the nurse once a week. The way Colin is healing it should be properly closed in no time. You can actually see where the skin has rejoined on each end of the incision.
Now Ella has picked up an upper respiratory viral infection. It started with a little cough and sore throat. I thought it was just her allergies acting up. But by Monday it was a raging fever and headache. Since the children’s Motrin got recalled a while ago, I had to switch to Advil for Ella. Well, it’s flavoured differently and much thicker than the Motrin and it gagged Ella. Now she won’t try taking anything and feels miserable. I picked up a chewable Advil, I hope I can get her to take those. Ella’s throat is so sore she won’t eat or drink much. I worry about her getting dehydrated.
Today my throat is feeling a little scratchy. Just what I don’t need!
What are the chances we’ll all feel well enough to go to my friend’s cottage on Saturday???
