This week’s Yarn Along shows how distracted I get with my knitting 🙂 I always have more than one project on the go and often more than just knitting. I picked up this wool last week at Michael’s. I was going to make toe-up socks for Ella, but they never seem to fit her feet properly. I’m not sure why. I’ll have to try a different style toe-up and see how that fits. So I ripped out those socks and started a pair from the top. As you can see I’ve turned the heel and am working off the gusset stitches. Ella can’t wait till they are finished.
Today we are reading Tea for Ruby. It’s by the Duchess of York and illustrated by the lady who does the Fancy Nancy books. It’s very popular in our house.
I have only done top down socks, but have wanted to try the toe up. I love the color that you are using in your socks.
Warmly,
Tracey
How my granddaughters would love socks out of that pretty yarn! I’ve only done toe up socks and really like doing them that way. I need to start some new socks soon.

Hi Paula
I tried to do a pair of socks for my two granddaughters using that same yarn. Do you think I could get two socks that looked the same???? I’m going to save the yarn for the little skirt on the wrapper!
We went down to Peterborough yesterday for a day trip. I popped into Michael’s and put a good hole in that massive gift card I was so happy to receive for Christmas. They had some nice colors in the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton on sale at 4/$5 so I picked up quite a few balls. I bought some great patterns from KrisKnits for dishclothes called “SPRING”. With this next hit of weather out there I’m really looking forward to work with something called “Spring”!

That was quite the ‘day trip’, Peterborough and back! Michael’s has quite a nice wool department. I like to go to Michael’s when we are in town, there is a good one in Oshawa. I love knit dishclothes. That’s what I’m going to start Ella making when she learns to knit (soon).
With patterned socks I always pull the yarn out to make sure I’m starting in the right place. Uneven socks drive me crazy :). I don’t usually buy sock wool in 100g balls. It’s harder to match the pattern if you have to split the ball. It’s easier if you buy 2 50g balls.
I’m a little disappointed with the wool. The flowers aren’t making up as nice because the rounds are smaller than they planned. But still looks good.
My sister was selling her late husband’s heavy duty old truck, so we decided it would be a great vehicle for hauling stuff back and forth from the back of our place where we are building a new road. We are probably not going to put it on the road, so we had to go collect it before her insurance and registration ran out. Now with this storm today we just got it done in the nick of time. 8 hours of driving sure is hard on the body, and doesn’t leave much time for visiting with my 93 year old Da or my Sissy for that matter.
My dishcloths are super cute! I’m going to put an Easter egg in each one and tie them up with ribbons for my daughters. Now I need some cute ideas for wrapping the eggs for my son. He loves my hand knits, so maybe a pair of socks…..with an egg in each toe???
Ah, that’s a good reason. I may have to make one of those kind of trips too. I’ve been offered a beautiful antique wardrobe for Ella, but now it’s seed cleaning season the truck is busy. So we may have to make a day trip to Toronto one of these Sundays. Or I may have to let it go.
I had to laugh when I read about the socks with eggs in them. My mom actually gave Colin 2 balls of wool for me to knit him socks for his birthday.
Now THAT is a way cool birthday gift!!
