I’ve taken the leap into the Etsy world and opened a shop. That’s where you’ll find the listing for the Danish shawl and any other hand work I’m selling. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Very Nice Paula.
I thought the shawl was for you???
Let me know how you do on etsy. I had a shop for five months and had no sales. I do better having my own shop on blogspot.
Yes,it was supposed to be for me but I seem to have the family anti-alpaca gene 🙂 I just can’t wear it even though it is so soft. Rather disappointing.
Beautiful shawl! I hope you do well with the Etsy shop, I too had one for several months and didn’t sell anything. Would you have any luck at the Farmer’s Market selling your hand work?
I hope it sells, I want to knit myself a new one and need money for more yarn. The shawl would sell in a second if I were near Toronto or Ottawa. Hand knit things (properly priced) don’t sell well up here. People would expect me to price the shawl around $20, which doesn’t even cover the wool let alone my time. In fact some people around here price their projects at less than the cost of the yarn. That just ruins the market for those of us trying to make a living.
Paula I once smocked a dress for my daughter. It had 80 hours of hand sewing in it and material from Switzerland , hand tatted collar. At the time my folks had a sewing machine shop and I hung it up in there after daughter wore it as a flower girl. Well this lady came in every week wanting to buy the dress. The short of it was it was not for sale. Mom said Oh put a price on it and see if she will bit. So I said $360.00. The ladies reply…… but you made it!
Yep, that’s exactly the attitude from most folks up here too. It’s the same when people want me to do sewing for them. They seem to forget that minimum wage is $10/hr 🙂
I’m thinmking of doing the same thing. This is such a beautiful shawl!
