I’ve got some new progress to show this week. My sister’s Shalom sweater is coming along nicely. If you want an instant gratification kind of sweater, this is the one. And the yarn I am using makes it feel like a cloud. I sure hope my sister likes the sweater.
A certain little princess is having her first ‘non family’ birthday party. So I’m reading The Birthday Book. It has some neat ideas/traditions I’m going to try. One idea is a pair of birthday socks for ‘stepping into the new year’. I whipped up a pair of these for Ella. The easy pattern is here.
Now to see what the others are doing for Yarn Along.
The Shalom for your sister looks great 🙂 I’ve just cast one on for myself (although with worsted weight it is slightly less instant in the gratification!)
What cute socks! That sounds like a great birthday tradition! 🙂
The sweater looks scrumptious – thanks for sharing!
I like that tradition!
I was a little late finding that tradition. Good thing Ella’s still got little feet!
I think I should try knitting a Shalom. For some reason I am nervous to knit something for myself. I’d hate for it not to fit!!
Definitely try a Shalom. Chunky makes it a quick knit and only having one button makes the fit more forgiving. I’m also leaving out the waist shaping decreases. Those look better on tall and thin ladies. My sister is medium sized but short like me, so I’m working the body straight. Only using one ball, the sweater only cost $35!
