This is the mild panic edition of Farm Girl Friday. I’m not sure how it happened but I’ve gone from having 2 weeks to do my baking to only 4 days. Ella’s had a bit of a cold and I’ve been fighting it off, don’t know if that’s where I lost the time, but that’s where I am. I’ve been baking up a storm and am making progress. I’ve got good friends coming tomorrow to celebrate the Solstice so tomorrow’s busy. There may be a few fewer types of cookies in the cookie tins this year.
Monday we headed off to get our tree. We went to the same great tree farm as last year. Again, they didn’t disappoint.
We got dropped off in the field with the firs. I love getting a Fraser fir, being a fir they keep their needles for a ridiculously long time. Fraser firs are good for us because they have nice strong branches for my decorations. This year they provided sleds:
They had a bit more snow than we did, but had a lane way plowed out.
Ella was having a grand time, despite the cold temperature (-20C/-4F).
We actually ended up choosing the second tree we looked at, it’s funny how often that happens. You look at a ‘million’ trees and come back to one of the first.
Proof I came along too:
Every year I have to do less and less when it comes time to decorate the tree. Daddy does the lights and the garland, but Ella did nearly everything else.
She’s even got presents under the tree for Momma.
beautiful tree! it is hard to get it all in, isn’t it… tiredness really slows things down; sending my love in Christ…
Merry Christmas Paula and family and Happy Farmgirl Friday ! Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas on the farm!
Blessings, Deb
Nice! 🙂
Your tree is lovely! What fun to get to go pick it out at the farm!
Everything is good here, I’ve just been terribly busy recently with crafting and not much time for blogging. I hope to get back to my blog after the first of the year, I miss seeing what everyone is up to!
Merry Christmas to you guys!! 🙂
