Monday was busy and I kind of forgot it was Monday.  Tuesday was this:

Image may contain: 1 person, sitting and indoor

Somebody decided to share their cold with Ella and me.  Of course, Ella being Ella she spent most of Tuesday throwing up or feeling nauseous. It’s so hard, I have nothing to do that can help her.  I’ve never heard of someone who gets a sore throat and throws up the day before getting a cold.  She finally fell asleep about 10 pm.  Luckily we have the recliner ends on the chesterfield, makes sleeping downstairs more comfortable.

Of course, today she’s more or less back to her old self.  Just a little stuffy.  Me on the other hand, I still have a sore throat and my lungs hurt.  Really don’t have time to be sick this week.

I’ll give you my original menu plan for this week because I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot of ‘whatever’ eaten this week.

Monday:

tacos

Tuesday:

steak souvlaki

Wednesday:

maple glazed chicken

Thursday:

leftover souvlaki

Friday:

sweet and sour chicken

Saturday:

prime rib -not sure what else we’ll make, Belinda and Stefan are coming up

Sunday:

full roast turkey dinner

Hey look!  Menu Plan Monday actually on a Monday morning!!  We’ve managed to survive last week’s crazy, crazy heat.  Saturday it was 35C but felt like 45C with the humidity -that’s 113 for you Fahrenheit folks.  That night I don’t think the house cooled off below 30!  Last night was my first good sleep in nearly a week, this morning the house is a lovely 22C/71F.  I’ll have to keep an eye on the heat and decide when to close up the windows and curtains.

Monday:

crock pot Shepherd’s pie (didn’t make last week, too hot)

Tuesday:

turkey -on BBQ

Wednesday:

leftover shepherd’s pie

Thursday:

leftover turkey

Friday:

sweet and sour chicken

Saturday:

crock pot roast beef (didn’t make last week either)

Sunday:

??

Wow, I didn’t realize I had fallen off the face of the earth  🙂  I’ll leave you with a quick Menu Plan Monday so you know I’m still here.  Ella’s got a ‘Nerf war’ with her friends this morning so I don’t have time for a good post.  We had a great time at our annual Canada day holiday and we continue to melt in this crazy heat and humidity.  For example, it’s 7:42 am and the house is already 24C/75F, which is warm enough but the humidity already makes everything feel damp and sticky and I’m almost sweating just talking with you guys.  Blech!

I’ll give you a teaser of the post to come:

This heat and humidity make it hard to menu plan.  Instead of doing the whole month I’m basically just doing week by week.  Though I did do something crazy yesterday.  I made a strawberry pie.  We’ve got so many strawberries this year, I’m running out of things to make.  I hadn’t made a pie in years.  It was so good!  Definitely worth heating up the kitchen.  Here’s what we’re eating this week:

Monday:

chicken on the BBQ

Tuesday:

steak souvlaki

Wednesday:

supper out

Thursday:

crock pot shepherd’s pie -new recipe

Friday:

leftover shepherd’s pie

Saturday:

crock pot roast beef

Sunday:

crock pot ranch pork chops -new recipe

Hope you all have somewhere cool, I’m going to go melt in the corner -ha ha!

What a beautiful sunny day today!  We had mostly clouds on the weekend and a couple of inches of rain.  Colin even put the outdoor furnace back on, the house was getting so cold and damp. We went on a ‘crop tour’ yesterday and there’s lots of standing water in the fields around Beachburg.

Our friends got moved up north on the weekend.  Hopefully they unpack quickly so we can go up for a visit.  I’ve never been to that part of Ontario before.

I think things will be fairly quiet this week.  I’ve had enough socializing the last few weeks.  Ella does have a pre-soccer camp meeting on Tuesday.  Depending on the weather we will try Park Day, though it likely won’t be much fun (for me) without Amanda.

What’s cooking this week?

Monday:

leftover chicken wings

Tuesday:

French Canadian braised beef (didn’t make it last week)

Wednesday:

breaded pork chops

Thursday:

leftover beef

Friday:

sweet and sour chicken

Saturday:

roast beef -on bbq or Crock Pot

Sunday:

?? -depends on what we decide to do

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!  Colin has finished planting for 2019!!  We got 97% of the planned acres planted.  It took 27 days, but they’re in!  Would you believe that we actually have a few fields that could use a bit of rain?  Gotta love Renfrew Co. white clay.

Spring has finally arrived in Renfrew County.  It looks like it is snowing in my yard.  All this fluff is from the silver poplar.

Look what Ella brought in for me!  My kitchen smells heavenly.

Our friends are coming over again on Tuesday and we have Park Day on Wednesday.  Hopefully Wednesday is nice because Ella and Landon want to go to the bike park first.

Monday:

leftover BBQ’d ribs (from yesterday)

Tuesday:

chicken cacciatore (from freezer)

Wednesday:

KFC

Thursday:

French Canadian braised beef

Friday:

leftover beef

Saturday:

home school pot luck

Sunday:

chicken wings

Well the rain continues, but at least it’s not been much and we’ve had some decent days in between.  Colin figures he’s about 65% finished.  He’s got about a week to finish getting the beans in, then he’s cut off for crop insurance.  Yesterday was nice and sunny and windy (helps the ground dry faster).  Today is dull and windy and rainy, in fact there was even snow in Algonquin Park.  I’m not very surprised though, because the wild plums have finally flowered.  We always seem to get the last frost after they flower.

What’s up this week?  Park day, knitting day, and a girls’ night out!  Ella’s even got her first babysitting job.

Monday:

shake and bake pork chops

Tuesday:

roast chicken

Wednesday:

lasagna

Thursday:

hot chicken

Friday:

chicken chow mein

Saturday:

chicken enchilada rice casserole

Sunday:

??

Things are looking a little better this week.  We’ve still had bits of rain, but Colin has also had a few days for planting too.  I don’t know what percentage we are at.  He’s starting to play ‘musical fields’ because he’s running out of dry places.  The wheat is starting to get desperate.  It needs to be in by the end of the month (crop insurance deadline).  We need the wheat because wheat harvest time is about the time the bank account starts getting low.  It’s very cloudy and threatening outside today.  That won’t help the drying much.

Hopefully everyone will turn up tonight so the kids can get the rest of their play ‘taped’.  I’m getting tired of running out there and finding only some of the cast members.  We’ve got another ‘play date’ with Ella’s friends (and mine).  We need to get in as many as we can before they move.  If it doesn’t rain on Wednesday (fingers crossed) we’ve got Park day with the home school bunch.

Monday:

turkey casserole

Tuesday:

Salisbury steak in the crockpot

Wednesday:

chicken souvlaki

Thursday:

leftover Salisbury steak

Friday:

garlic beef noodle bowls

Saturday:

bacon and eggs (or the fancy venison sausages we were given)

Sunday:

roast chicken and German potato salad (new recipe in crockpot)

“Good day Sunshine”

You guys have no idea, well maybe you do, how happy we were to wake up to a window full of sunshine this morning.  Colin was able to get some corn in the ground on Saturday -before the rain started, again.  He says we’ve got about 9% of our land planted.  Yikes!!  We got about 1 cm of rain over the whole weekend.  We didn’t need it, but it’s sure better than the 40 mm the weather guy was predicting.

We have a busy week of socializing.  Tonight (hopefully) they will begin videoing the Shakespeare play.  Tuesday we have friends coming for knitting a play date for Ella.  Wednesday is Park Day with the home school group.  Thursday is the last day of swim lessons, boo!  And Friday Ella’s besties are coming for the afternoon because their Mom has some stuff to do.

Monday:

hamburger casserole

Tuesday:

supper out?

Wednesday:

leftover casserole

Thursday:

turkey leg

Friday:

leftover turkey

Saturday:

crispy honey garlic chicken wings

Sunday:

leftover wings

More great ideas at I’m an Organizing Junkie.
