The last little while we’ve been busy making Ella’s bedroom into more of a big girl room. We finally bought Ella a wardrobe. Until now all her dresses hung on the back of her bedroom door -her room has no real closet. That’s worked well until lately. My girl is getting so tall that her dresses are starting to drag on the floor 🙂
It was two long hot days trying to build the cupboard. I don’t know why it’s always so hot when we have to do stuff like this. It was overcast and I had such a headache too.
One good thing with this room change, the cupboard more or less covers the spot where Ella (a few years ago) pulled off the border. The first couple times I glued the pieces back on, but then some got lost and I gave up.
Here’s the cupboard and bookcase all together. Not bad for 2 days work. Two doors are closet space and the third door is shelves for undies and sweaters and what not. I’m glad we finally got her bookcase together. Now I can get MY bookcase back!
We re-arranged the furniture too. Ella’s room is so small that the furniture only fits in one way. I’m not sure why these pictures are so blurry. Maybe it was the headache 🙂
And yes, there is room in this bed for Ella. This pile of stuffies is actually smaller than before. Ella picked a few to donate.
Ella was less than fun these two days. I think she might have been fighting a headache too (Momma my brain hurts as she says). This is the attitude we had to deal with. Not much help!
But she loves her new big girl bedroom and loves having the bed in a new positions. She says it feels like a new room.
Lovely Paula. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow when the temperatures drop some. i think a thunderstorm will cure all that ails everyone these days. My allergies are terrible. I have a headache at the back of my neck. Started last night and I can’t seem to lessen the pain. But work goes on head ache or none. I hope you take it easy today and stay cool. I know you hate the heat.
I think a t-storm would be good, just not a severe one since Colin has so much transplanted. My head feels like someone has my temples in a vice. My migraines tend to start at the back of my neck, so this is ‘just’ a headache. Hope your feeling better soon too.
Sometimes the little ones dislike any change – and maybe because she is now a “big” girl, she realizes she may need to do some big girl things! The room is so cute, I’m sure she actually loves it. And it’s not baby-ish, so she can enjoy it for years to come without Mama and Daddy having to re-paper.
I wasn’t sure how she would like the change. Back when we hoped to put the addition on, she was very upset at the idea of a new bedroom. Ella would actually like to change her wallpaper. When we picked it out I hoped it would last till she was about 8. Old enough to have an opinion 🙂 I wish our walls were of painting quality. It would be so much easier to throw on a coat of paint for her. But our old lath and plaster walls have been shook by the trains for so long they are terribly cracked. I sometimes think the wallpaper is the only thing holding the walls up -haha!
The room looks great, how nice it will be to get your bookshelf back! Ella’s expression reminds me of my youngest daughter when she says “I am not cute I am crabby” still cute.
Congratulations to Ella on her new big girl room. It truly does have a certain mature air about it. My youngest daughter is 13 and her bedroom is off of our bedroom and closet-less too!
I love the way this turned out and it has me thinking…
Blessings, Debbie
